WOD Type: 12-2 Snatch Progression (Modified)
WOD Warm-Up:
30 minute standard WOD warm-up for mobility. I have also added overhead squat / Snatch Preparation Routine… Mobility man stretches.
WOD Particulars:
Proceed through the sequence below completing as many reps as possible in 10 minutes of:
75 pound Snatch, 30 reps
95 pound Snatch, 30 reps
115 pound Snatch, 30 reps
135 pound Snatch, as many reps as possible
Today’s WOD Time was 10 minutes, but felt like forever…
My reps added up to 63 reps which adds up to about 5,445# moved in 10 minutes… I know I have to do more weight to be competitive, but I feel pretty good with that as I am still under 6 month’s in Crossfit…
Teachable Moment:
Today’s WOD Teachable moment is all about riding in the wind, gripping the bar and working the core… Gale force winds once again today hit me head on and all the way home, all I could think about was the snatch progression.
I found out today that snatches will drain the grip quickly. I have been using the hook grip quite a bit lately and man it sure comes in handy for the snatch! I sure could have used some chalk too. Anyway, if you are not using the hook grip, the your wrong! Its a must when doing high reps…
Just Google the hook grip and you’ll see how to perform it.
