Cycling & Strava
Cycling is nothing without Strava. I Love Strava for keeping track of my rides and going back to view my cycling adventures. It works so well that I can ride the mountain bike in a totally wooded area and Strava’s GPS system tracks every segment of the ride.
Check out the bikes…
Cycling – My Life Blood
The Mountain Bike is a Gary Fisher HiFi and I absolutely love riding it…
When I first started using Strava for cycling, I figured it would not work in the woods as it relies on GPS and satellites. I was pleasantly surprised the first time I used Strava on my iPhone during a mountain bike ride at Fort Ebey on Whidbey Island, My stomping grounds…
Cycling has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. When I joined the Navy back in 2007, I went through bootcamp and A-School and then accepted orders to Washington State. Within one year of living here, I sold my car and used the money to buy my first real road bike.
It was a Bianci Veloce and I put roughly 30,000 miles on that bike. I had no choice but to ride as I no longer had a car. Well, that is not entirely true. My wife of 22 years had a car back then. We were not married, but living together and there was no way I would be allowed to use her car as she needed it to work and to be able to take Jason and Holly places. Anyway, cycling has been a major part of my life.
Cycling & My Latest Trusty Steed!
Here is the latest road bike in my cycling career
Anyway, not that you want to hear a life story about my cycling endeavors, but just thought I would give you a little idea of where I came from in my when it comes to the bike.
Funny thing about these two wheels, it excites the hell out of me every time I go into the garage and see them hanging on the wall in my new Crossfit Garage Gym!
Crossfit and cycling are going to be an incredible fit for me. I’m already starting to see a major change in my body dimensions. Arms are getting bigger, core is getting stronger and just gaining a bunch of confidence in my abilities. Crossfit is definitely what will help me lose the 40 pounds I gained since leaving the military five years ago.
Anyway, the sun is shining and all this talk about biking is making me want to go out and take advantage of the weather.
With that, I am off to take a ride and then hit the Crossfit WOD. Today’s workout will be Thruster and Pull-Ups!
Later…
